Young Mayor 2020

4th May 2020

As we near the end of a positive first year as Surrey Young Mayor, I have agreed to stay in the role for a second term in order to support the development of the position further and reinforce its integration at Surrey County Council.

Throughout this second year, I hope to build upon the work that has already been started and continue to grow the involvement of youth voice across Surrey. This will take place in a number of ways such as frequent meetings with Surrey’s Chairman and working with borough and district councils across the county.

In light of this aim to work together to promote youth voice, I have selected a theme for the year of “Communication and Collaboration”.

The key points from my manifesto for the next stage of our important work are the following.

  • Establishing a network of Youth Councils across Surrey so that every young person can have their say
  • Enabling young people to have the Young Mayor’s support with project ideas through a new budget
  • Recognising innovative youth-led projects across Surrey through a Young Mayor’s Award
  • Supporting young people across Surrey to participate in youth voice through the Surrey Youth Cabinet and MYP programmes

This work will continue to progress while I also engage with events in the community and support the Chairman on official engagements.
